Lion Sands Game Reserve

Lion Sands Game Reserve is the only private reserve to have a foot in both the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Kruger National Park. The Sand River flows through the reserve for 11km(7mi) from northwest to southeast, while the Sabie River flows for 12km (7.5mi) on the southern boundary. Because of these continuous water sources, the area enjoys one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations in Africa. Over two hundred different species live in abundance, and the dynamic birdlife will appeal to both seasoned and amateur   bird enthusiasts alike. The Sabi Sand Reserve is renowned for the quality of its leopard viewing, the most elusive of predators.

River Lodge is the origin of the Lion Sands safari – the elemental safari. Here guests can expect a sophisticated interpretation of the traditional safari lodge, with an emphasis on clean lines, optimised natural light and contemporary décor. River Lodge’s accommodation comprises 8 Luxury Rooms, 6 Superior Luxury Rooms and 4 River Suites (each with its own plunge pool). One of the River Suites has 2 bedrooms.

Perched among a canopy of 100 year old trees overlooking the Sabie River, the style of Narina is that of a luxurious treehouse, where the main areas link to the 9 private Suites via raised wooden walkways. The thick green foliage beneath the overhanging roof of trees has a particular sound to it.
