The Serengeti

The Serengeti is renowned for its abundant wildlife, in particular its large numbers of predators – especially lions, leopards, and cheetahs – and of course the quintessential Serengeti landscapes of the acacia-studded savanna. It’s one of the best places to visit if you’re hoping to witness part of the Great Migration, when hundreds of thousands of wildebeest follow the rains between Kenya’s Masai Mara and the Serengeti’s plains.

The Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. Spanning 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, it is a breath-taking natural wonder with a huge density of wildlife and is named a World Heritage Site.

Tropical Islands

Tropical islands are another of Tanzania’s appeals. The island of Mafia has a marine park with whale sharks and coral reefs, which make it one of Africa’s premier tourist destinations. Known as the Spice Island, the beautiful Arabic-inspired Zanzibar has a rich culture and history, coupled with idyllic white beaches hailed as some of the world’s best.

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp has 9 spacious tents that are positioned carefully to provide privacy and with minimal impact on the pristine forest environment. They accommodate two queen-size beds, and as it can get cool on the Ngorongoro Crater rim at night, little luxuries like warm winter-weight duvets, hot water bottles and gas heaters ensure a cosy night’s sleep. The roomy en-suite bathrooms contain a dressing area, flush toilet, and a large safari-style shower.

The seclusion of the camp means that you are free to have the run of the place. Comprising just 4 tents, and 2 suites the peaceful intimacy lends itself to exclusive bookings, or groups accompanied by private guides. Though it’s a mobile camp, its furnishings and creature comforts are much the same as Serian’s Serengeti South – with flushing toilets and bucket showers in an en suite bathroom, enormous wrought-iron beds, Moroccan rugs, and all the trimmings make it simplistically elegant and comfortable.

    This was our second visit to South Africa that Mike at Cape tours has organised and booked for us. We cannot fault him and his team’s efforts and his organisation and knowledge to ensure we have had truly fantastic holidays. From the moment we set off to the time we got back everything ran smoothly. The Safari at Sanbona reserve was fantastic with 5 star accommodation and was the highlight of the trip. All of the locations and accommodation Mike chose were excellent. We also traveled from Cape Town to Pretoria on Rovos Rail. This was a great experience and we would highly recommend it. For anyone wishing to visit this fantastic country on holiday I would not look anywhere else organise it for you.
