Experience Southern Africa’s contrasts and diverse African cultures. Encounter abundant Wildlife and the “BIG5” over 4 National Parks and alongside the water-rich water systems of the KAZA Transfrontier Park.
Your journey begins with an overnight in the main agricultural hubs of Namibia, the Otavi Mountain range before continuing your travels to Rundu in the Kavango Region. En route visit Hoba Meteorite in Grootfontein, the largest known meteorite on Earth.
Travel east following the flow of the Kavango River until it turns south to form the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Enjoy a meander along the river on a sunset cruise. Visit the Mahango Game Park, Namibia’s smallest, yet one of its most diverse wildlife havens. Predators such as leopard, lion, hyena, and even wild dog also inhabit the park. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure – take in the lush environment beside the pool or relax on the veranda of your room amidst the melodic tune of birds.
Travelling further east, you traverse the Bwabwata Game Park, another of Namibia’s wilderness areas that is bordered only by natural river systems and therefore preserves game species ageless migration routes. An abundance of wildlife lives here, including lion, roan, sable, elephant, and buffalo as well as over 450 different bird species. Explore this water-rich area by boat or on a game drive; alternatively, you can visit a traditional village situated close to your lodge.
Spend the day exploring the waterways of the Kwando and Nkasa Lupala National Park. The river systems and National Parks of the Zambezi Region in Namibia form part of the KAZA Transfrontier Park. The KAZA TFCA was established to conserve the shared natural resources and cultural heritage of this vast area. To promote and facilitate the development of a complementary and linked network of protected areas that protects wildlife and restores natural migratory routes.
Travelling along the eastern Zambezi Strip, you cross the border into Botswana. Driving along stretches of towering baobab trees, you will enjoy the Chobe flood plains and Chobe National Park. Besides being Botswana’s second largest park, the Chobe National Park boasts the largest elephant concentration on Earth and is the habitat of all large African predators as well as a vast variety of antelope species. With over 500 different bird species, the park is a haven for birders.
Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders on Earth. This dramatically beautiful event is accompanied by a deafening roar and fine spray that arcs up into the sky, giving the falls its local name: Mosi-oa-Tunya – the “Smoke that Thunders”. A sunset cruise on the Zambezi is a must for any stay in this spectacular part of the world, and with so many other activities and extra night’s stay may be warranted.
Depending on your travel plans either check-in for your onward flight or you may want to continue with your journey following the “Wetlands & Deserts Tour” via Botswana back to Namibia.
